Every month, I publish a report of the business & investment income I received during the previous month. I publish these reports to show you what you can expect with an online business & unconventional investments, and I also publish them to keep the motivation to work hard & to grow this number month after month.
In every report, you will find out the details about all the business income I received during the month, all the business expenses, and also all the income I received from investments during the month.
What Happened in July (and June)
I am just back from an amazing road trip in California that I made with my girlfriend, so actually not much happened in my business in July. Which also explains why I didn’t post an income report for June, as I was already traveling when Asana reminded me it was time to write a new income report. Therefore, I will mainly tell you what happened in June rather than July.
Well, June was actually a crazy month. My only goal was to finish some ongoing projects before going to holidays, and I was rushing through my to-do list every day. First, I wanted to finish adding content to some of my eBooks about electronics, including shooting videos for the high-end versions of those products, so this took a while. Then, I promised to send a good amount of chapters to my publisher in the UK, for two book projects I am currently working on. So it was a really stressful month in June, but I managed to do it all before leaving. Well, except the June monthly income report 🙂
On the investing side, I mainly injected more money in the stock market, especially investing in real estate via REITs (Real Estate Investment Trusts). I did that as there were some great opportunities available in that sector, and also because I am currently behind my goal to have 87,500 Euros invested in REITs & real estate before the end of the year.
Below is all the income I received from my online business during the past month:
- Amazon Kindle eBooks: 677 €
- eBooks & video courses: 1345 €
- Google adSense: 103 €
- Sponsored videos: 127 €
- Books royalties: 861 €
Gross business income in July 2016: 3113 € (-25%)
Below is all the business related expenses I had during the past month:
- Team expenses on UpWork: 112 €
- Small Fiverr gigs: 94 €
Business expenses in July 2016: 206 € (-56%)
Net business income in July 2016: 3678 € (-21%)
Below is all the income I received from investments during the past month. For some investments, this is the expected monthly revenue as some investments only pay once a quarter or once a year:
- Dividend growth stocks: 382 €
- Peer-to-Peer lending: 447 €
- Real estate: 138 €
- Bitcoin investments: 108 €
- Amazon affiliate websites: 1474 €
Investment income in July 2016: 2556 € (+2%)
Comment About the Report
Let’s now make the total and add my business & investment revenues:
Total income for July 2016: 5469 € (-12%)
First, let’s note that I compared this month to May and not to June, as I didn’t have the time to prepare a monthly income report for June. July was slower than May, but I am actually not too disappointed by the result as I did absolutely nothing work-wise in July. This really illustrated the power of creating passive income streams, as most of my business revenues were coming from passive income sources like royalties, Kindle sales, and direct sales of products on my websites. And of course, my investment portfolio is always paying money, even when doing a road trip at the other end of the world!
I actually took some important decisions as I came back from holidays: to fuse several of my websites based on interests. For example, I will fuse all my investing websites (I had 5 in total!) with this website, so you can find all about my online business & investing strategies in one place. It will be better for me (to be able to focus my efforts), and also for you (so you can enjoy the best content possible). I will also continue my work of optimising my current sales funnels on my websites, starting with my website Open Home Automation that sells eBooks about electronics.
My other goal for this month is to actually launch the paid plans for my Internet of Things platform, called aREST. This is really exciting, as it could become my first SaaS product that will generate a decent amount of money. I will for sure share how this is going as soon as the first revenues start to come in!
As usual, I also updated my investment portfolio page to reflect the changes during the month. What about you? Did you have a good month with your online business and/or your investments?
