LEI System Review: Pricing and Renewals

LEI System’s prices, application and renewal terms, with a practical look at which plan suits your company.

Commercial disclosure: this article is part of a paid collaboration with LEI System. The pricing checks, observations and assessment remain separate from that arrangement.

The short version

LEI System at a glance

  • What it does
Helps legal entities register, renew and transfer their Legal Entity Identifier through the accredited issuer RapidLEI.
  • Published price
The application inspected on 8 September 2026 displayed €59 for one year, €165 for three years and €245 for five years. Check the final tax and jurisdiction-specific charges.
  • What stands out
An independently confirmed issuer partnership and one application covering several years of renewal administration.
  • What to check
Automatic-renewal timing, cancellation rules and the total payable matter as much as the annual headline price.

An LEI often becomes relevant at an inconvenient moment: you are setting up an investment account for your company, and the broker asks for an identifier you have never needed before.

LEI System is one of the providers that can help with that step. Its role is to handle the application and administration around a standardized identifier, including future renewals.

I have tried LEI System. This review focuses on how the service works, what it costs and the renewal terms that matter over time. Prices and documentation were checked on 8 September 2026; processing times below are the provider's published estimates. For the background, start with my guide to LEI numbers.

What LEI System is

LEI System is operated by LEI System OÜ, an Estonian company registered in April 2024 under number 16966880. Its registered address is in Tallinn. Estonian company record

The distinction between an agent and an issuer is useful here. RapidLEI's own partner directory identifies LEI System as a Preferred Partner and Registration Agent, partnered since May 2025. RapidLEI, operated by Ubisecure Oy, validates and issues the LEI. LEI System handles the customer-facing application and service.

That is a normal route to obtaining an LEI. You are paying for registration and administration, not a different kind of identifier or a special level of broker acceptance.

LEI System also has its own identifier, 984500908J38713A7650. Its GLEIF record showed ISSUED status during the research. This helps verify the entity's identity; it is not a rating of customer service.

Plans and pricing

The live application displayed these prices:

PlanTotal price displayedEquivalent per year
One year€59€59
Three years€165€55
Five years€245€49

Application prices checked on 8 September 2026

At those prices, three separate €59 purchases would cost €177, compared with €165 upfront for three years. Five would cost €295, compared with €245 upfront. That is a saving of €12 or €50, assuming the one-year price stays unchanged and comparing the same tax treatment.

My take: choose one year if you are unsure how long you will need the LEI. A multiyear plan makes more sense for an ongoing company investment account when you are comfortable paying upfront. The saving is modest enough that renewal terms and convenience should drive the choice.

I found inconsistent prices in some of the site's explanatory copy. The application showed the totals above, while parts of the comparison material used lower multiyear figures. I would use the final order summary as the purchasing reference and avoid relying on an old comparison table.

What the application asks for

The public form starts with a plan and the entity's jurisdiction. It includes a company-name or registration-number search, board-member names, email and an option to enter company details manually. There is an ownership question, which matters when another legal entity sits above the applicant in a group structure.

The workflow is organized into application, checkout and order. Registration, renewal and transfer are accessible from the same area, with a bulk-mode option also displayed.

Before applying, I would have the registered company name and number ready and check that the person making the request is authorized to act for it. Registry information and the application should agree. Resolving a spelling or address discrepancy beforehand is more useful than rushing through the form.

How long does it take?

LEI System's terms describe most registrations as taking one to three hours, with complex parent or fund cases potentially taking up to 48 hours. Renewals and transfers may take up to seven days. Processing starts after both the application and payment are received, and supporting documents may be requested.

If your broker needs the LEI for a planned transaction, apply early enough to handle questions about authority, ownership or registry data. More complex company structures can take longer to validate.

Renewals and transfers

An LEI's reference data needs annual renewal. A five-year service package pays for successive renewals; it does not turn the identifier into a five-year record that needs no maintenance. GLEIF's official explanation

LEI System offers to administer those renewals. The practical value is keeping the information current and reducing the chance that you miss the renewal date.

If your company already has an LEI, look up the existing number before applying for another. The provider's transfer service moves management of that identifier rather than giving the company a replacement number. The transfer itself is advertised as free, alongside a paid renewal. Previously prepaid years with another provider should not be assumed to transfer with it.

For an existing customer comparing renewal offers, I would look at the total remaining commitment. A lower annual price can be less attractive if moving means giving up service you already paid for.

Automatic renewal and cancellation

The terms deserve a careful read before choosing a recurring arrangement. They describe notice 60 days before expiry and a five-calendar-day cancellation or amendment window after that notice. The renewal charge uses the active price at processing.

They also specify a €40 refund administration fee and exclusions, including completed issuance or renewal and early cancellation of multiyear service. Some jurisdictional registry surcharges may be non-refundable. Taxes and possible local charges must be checked against your own order. Service terms

My practical approach would be to confirm how automatic renewal is enabled, where to cancel it and which email receives notices. Keep that information with the invoice. These controls are more valuable than remembering only the initial price.

Who is LEI System best suited to?

LEI System is worth considering for company investors who want registration and renewals handled through one provider. The visible plan totals and separate paths for registration, renewal and transfer make the service easy to compare with alternatives.

The multiyear option is most relevant if the company expects to keep its investment account for several years. If you need an LEI for a short-lived requirement, the one-year plan keeps the upfront commitment smaller.

For an unusual entity structure or a tight deadline, ask about eligibility, supporting documents and timing before paying. A localized website does not, on its own, establish support for every jurisdiction.

Data and privacy

An application involves sharing company and contact information. LEI System's privacy policy describes sharing entity data with the issuer and GLEIF and permits some customer-contact sharing with commercial partners. Review those provisions when deciding which contact details to use.

Pros and cons

What works well

  • RapidLEI independently confirms the registration-agent partnership
  • One-, three- and five-year plan totals are visible in the application
  • Registration, renewal and transfer are available through the same service
  • Multiyear administration may simplify ongoing maintenance

What to consider

  • Some explanatory pricing copy differs from the application
  • Automatic-renewal and refund conditions need attention
  • Final costs depend on tax treatment and possible jurisdictional charges
  • Multiyear plans require upfront payment and limit cancellation flexibility

FAQ

Is LEI System the company issuing my LEI?+
LEI System is the registration agent. Its issuing partner is RapidLEI, operated by Ubisecure Oy.
Will transferring change my LEI number?+
A provider transfer changes who manages the existing identifier. It does not ordinarily replace the company's LEI number.
Does a multiyear plan remove the annual renewal requirement?+
No. The plan covers service over several years, but the entity's reference data still needs annual renewal.
Which price should I use?+
The application displayed €59, €165 and €245 for one, three and five years on 8 September 2026. Check the final order for current pricing, taxes and any jurisdictional surcharges.

Verdict

LEI System is a practical option for company investors who want help managing their LEI over time. The confirmed RapidLEI partnership, visible plan prices and combined registration, renewal and transfer service are its main strengths.

I would start with the one-year plan when future needs are uncertain, and consider a longer plan for a company that will keep investing. Before ordering, resolve the three details that affect the real value: the final price, automatic renewal and cancellation terms. The LEI itself follows the same standard whichever provider you choose.
